The Ugly Duckling

Once there was a mother duck.She was sitting on seven little eggs.

從前有一只鴨媽媽。她正在孵七個鴨蛋。

One by one,six little yellow ducklings came out of the eggs.

六只小黃鴨一個接一個從蛋里走了出來。

There was still one egg left.The mother duck sat on that egg again.

還剩下一個蛋。鴨媽媽又坐上去孵蛋。

Two days later,out came a duckling.But this duckling wasn't yellow.

兩天后，一只小鴨子出來了。但是這只小鴨子不是黃色的。

It was grey,and it had a long,thin neck.

它是灰色的，長著又長又細的脖子。

The other ducklings didn't like the grey duckling.

其它的小鴨子都不喜歡這只灰色的小鴨子。

They didn't want to play with him.They said he was ugly.

它們都不想和它一起玩。它們叫它丑小鴨。

The little ugly duckling was sad.

丑小鴨很難過。

Summer came.The ducklings all grew bigger,and the ugly duckling was the 夏天來到了。小鴨子們都長大了，丑小鴨長得最大。

One day they went to a farm.A chicken bit him,and the farmer kicked him.

He went to the tall grass by the lake to live by himself.He felt lonely every day.

Autumen came.The ugly duckling got bigger and bigger.

秋天到了。丑小鴨長得越來越大。

He swam by himself every day,so he got stronger,too.

每天他獨自游泳，所以他變得更強壯了。

Then winter came.It was very cold,and there was ice on the lake.

接著冬天來到了。天氣非常寒冷，湖面上結了冰。

The ugly duckling had no one to keep him warm.He felt very cold.

丑小鴨沒有可以取暖的地方。他感到非常冷。

Finally,spring came.One day,a little girl came to the lake with her mother.

最后，春天來到了。有一天，一個小姑娘和她的媽媽來到了湖邊。

"Look at the swan,"she said,"It's beautiful!"

“看看那只天鵝?！毙」媚镎f道，“它好美呀！”

The ugly duckling looked at himself in the water.He wasn't a duckling.

丑小鴨看了看湖水里的自己。他不再是一只丑小鴨了。

He was a swan,a white swan with a long neck.

他是一只天鵝了，一只有著長長脖子的潔白的天鵝。

He wasn't ugly.He was beautiful!

他不再是丑陋的，而是美麗的！

It is warm in spring.Mother Duck is making a nest.She has three eggs.

春天里很溫暖。鴨媽媽正在筑巢。她生了三顆蛋。

The eggs are in the nest.They are green and small.They are Mother Duck's babies.

蛋在巢里，它們又綠又小。它們是鴨媽媽的寶寶。

Now there are four eggs in the nest.The fourth egg is big and white.

現在巢里有四顆蛋。第四顆蛋又大又白。

Mother Duck sits on the nest.

鴨媽媽坐在巢上面。

The eggs open.Mother Duck is happy.

蛋裂開了，鴨媽媽很高興。

Oh,my lovely babies!I love you!

噢，我可愛的寶寶們！我愛你們！

Mother Duck sees four ducklings.Three ducklings are yellow and lovely.One duckling is big and grey.He is ugly.

Mother Duck feeds her babies with small worms.The big grey duckling eats all of them.

鴨媽媽用小蟲子來喂她的寶寶們。那只大個頭的灰色小鴨把所有的蟲子都吃了。

Mother Duck swims in the pond.The yellow ducklings sit on her back.The ugly duckling is too heavy,so he swims behind them.

鴨媽媽在池塘里游泳。黃色的小鴨子坐在她的背上。那只丑小鴨太重了，只好跟在他們身后游著。

The three ducklings often play together.They are happy.The ugly duckling is sad and lonely.

三只小鴨經常一起玩。他們玩得很高興。丑小鴨感到既傷心又孤獨。

The ugly duckling swims away.He does not want to stay with them.

丑小鴨游走了，他不想跟他們待在一起。

It is so cold in winter.The ugly duckling goes into a house,but an old woman drives him away.

冬天里很冷。丑小鴨走進了一所房子里，但是一個老婦人把他趕走了。

It is spring again.The ugly duckling is in the grass.Twp big swans see him.

春天又來了。丑小鴨待在草叢里，兩只大天鵝看見了他。

Hello,come and play.

你好，過來玩吧。

I'm an ugly duckling.

我是一只丑小鴨。

No!You're a beautiful swan.

不！你是一只美麗的天鵝。

The ugly duckling looks into the pond.Now he is a swan.He is very happy.

丑小鴨往池塘里看了看?，F在他是一只天鵝了。他高興極了。

I'm a beautiful swan!
