Weather in different seasons and places
Mr Wu is giving the students the weather reports for different seasons in Beijing. Help them match the weather with the possible season.
1. Snowstorms from the north will arrive in the late afternoon. The wind will be stronger and the temperature will drop below zero, to -10 ℃.
   winter
"-10" reads as "minus ten degrees (celsius)" or "ten degrees (celsius) below zero"
2. It will be mainly dry and sunny today, but it will turn more cloudy in the evening. The temperature will be around 9 ℃ during the day and 4 ℃ at night.
   autumn
3. It will be a beautiful, hot day again today, with temperatures in the thirties. Sunshine and blue skies will stay with us for the rest of the week.
   summer
4. There will be a few showers today, but it will be warm, with temperatures around 18 or 19 degrees.
   spring

Dialogue
Daniel is talking about the weather on the phone with his aunt in Nanjing. Work in pairs and talk about the weather.
Aunt: Hi, Daniel. This is Aunt Jane speaking.
Daniel: Hi, Aunt Jane.
Aunt: How are you doing?
Daniel: I'm fine, but it's really cold. There was a strong snowstorm here in Beijing yesterday. How's the weather in Nanjing?
Aunt: It's a bit cold and dry, but there are no snowstorms here.
Daniel: Sorry, I can't hear you. The wind is blowing hard. Can you speak louder please?
Aunt: That's OK. I'll ring you again. Take care. Byr-bye.
Daniel: Bye.

1、一般性談論天氣：Lovely day, isn't it? 好天氣，不是嗎？
2、談論氣溫：
   It's cold today, isn't it? 今天冷，不是嗎？
   It's very cold, but quite sunny. 今天天很冷，但很晴朗。
3、談風：
   (1) It's rather windy today, isn't it? 今天風相當大，不是嗎？
   (2) It's blowing strongly. 今天風刮得很大。
4、談將來的天氣：
   (1) It looks like rain, don't you think so?
       天看上去像是要下雨，你不這么認為嗎？
   (2) It's quite windy, and there's a lot of snow.
       風很大，會有雪的。
5、談不正常的天氣：
   (1) It's much too cold/hot. 太冷（熱）了。
   (2) It's hot for this time of year, don't you think so?
       對于每年的這個時候來說太熱了，你不這么認為嗎？
Weather Forcasts
For example
1. There will be occasional showers in southeast England, some of them perhaps heavy.
英格蘭東南部有短時陣雨，部分地區(qū)會轉成大雨。
2. Elsewhere is largely dry with sunny spells and just a scattering of light showers, but becoming cloudier in Northern Ireland towards evening.
其余大部分地區(qū)為干燥晴朗的天氣，局部地區(qū)有小陣雨，夜間，北愛爾蘭地區(qū)云量會有所增加。
3. Tonight has any showers dying away to leave a dry evening with some clear periods.
今天夜間沒有降雨，將保持干燥晴朗。
4. Thicker cloud with occasional rain or drizzle will spread into some western areas during the night.
夜間，西部地區(qū)云量增加會導致短時小雨出現(xiàn)。
5. Saturday will be a cloudier day with outbreaks of mainly light rain in western areas, spreading slowly eastwards, though many central and eastern areas should remain dry.
本周六是多云的天氣，西部地區(qū)將有小雨，而且降雨會緩慢東移，不過中部大部分地區(qū)和東部部分地區(qū)仍將保持干燥天氣。
6. From Sunday to Tuesday, it will be cloudy with occasional drizzle in western and northwestern areas, especially around coasts and hills.
本周日到下周二將會是多云的天氣，西部和西北部地區(qū)有短時小雨，沿海和山區(qū)的降雨會比較明顯。
7. Elsewhere is mainly dry with some sunshine, but heavy showers possible central and southeast England on Tuesday.
其余地區(qū)主要為干燥和晴朗的天氣，不過下周二的時候，英格蘭中部和東南部可能會降大雨。
Study skills
The suffix -y can be added to nouns to form adjectives with the meaning "having the quality of ...". For example:

My favorite season
My favorite season is summer, summer is very hot. But it's good for sports. I like swimming best. I often go swimming with my friends in summer. In summer we can eat ice cream and some fruit. In summer we have the longest holiday.
It's summer holiday. In summer holiday we can do some thing interesting, such as swimming, playing basketball, going to the park and so on. I think summer is the best season of a year.
My favorite season is autumn. In China, autumn is always from September. When autumn comes, the leaves turn yellow slowly. People often go hiking and fishing on weekends. At his time, the farmers are busy doing their farm work. It's a harvest time for everyone to gain what they want to get. Although the weather is a little cold, I like autumn best.               I love winter
Winter is my favourite season. It is very cold in winter and everyone has to wear thick, warm clothes, but I always enjoy the winter here in harbin.
The temperature is usually below zero and it is often snowy. Everything is covered in deep white snow, and the lakes and rivers are frozen.
During this season, you cannot see beautiful flowers or green trees, but the land is quiet and beautiful.
My friends and I love playing outside in winter. It is exciting to have big snowball fights. We throw snowballs at each other, screaming and laughing. We also make snowmen and use carrots for their noses. They look funny. Moreover, I enjoy the Ice Festival each year.
There are beautiful ice lanterns everywhere. It is really wonderful.
