Sometimes you can learn new words through translation.
For example,when you learn“government”,you can take a
card and write the English word on one side and the Chinese
on the other.Practise saying“government”and check that you
remember the meaning.

China.
2.The bamboo forests are getting smaller,so pandas are
losing their home.

Language points
1.living in the wild是現(xiàn)在分詞作定語,相當(dāng)于which are living/live in the wild.
如:
They are visitors coming from several countries.
這些參觀者來自幾個國家。
The girl standing there is my classmate.
站在那兒的女孩是我的同班同學(xué)。
2 research
  research n.研究;調(diào)查
We all support his scientific research.
我們都支持他的科學(xué)研究。
Research indicates that men find it easier to give up
smoking than women.研究表明,男人比女人更容易戒煙。
My research is just bouncing along at present.
目前我的調(diào)查進展得很順利。
research v.研究;調(diào)查
He needs to research about the coffee market.

3.produce
  produce vt.& vi.生產(chǎn);生育;繁殖
Female sheep produce one or two lambs at a time.
母羊一次生一到兩只羊羔。
It is certain that we shall produce this kind of
engine.毫無疑問,我們將生產(chǎn)這種發(fā)動機。

  develop v.研制,制定

develop的基本意思是“發(fā)展”,還有“發(fā)達,進步,開發(fā)”等意思。

5.feed
feed  v.喂養(yǎng);飼養(yǎng),基本用法:
(1)表示“給某人或動物喂食物”或“用食物喂某人或動物”,通常
用feed sth to sb或feed sb on sth.如:
Please feed some grass to the cow.
請給牛喂點草。
She feeds the baby on milk.
她用牛奶喂嬰兒。
What do you feed your dog on?
你用什么喂狗?
有時也用feed sb sth或feed sb with sth這樣的結(jié)構(gòu),但不很常用。如:
He fed the horse(with)potatoes.
他給馬喂土豆。
注:表示為某物提供原料,通常用
feed...with(into)....如:
傳送帶向機器傳送原料。
正:The moving belt feed the machine with raw material.
正:The moving belt feed raw material into the machine.
(2)feed(up)on意為“吃”“用......喂”,主要用于動物。如:
Sheep feed mostly on grass.
羊主要吃草。
Owls feed on mice and other small animals.
貓頭鷹吃老鼠和其他的小動物。
有時用于引申義。如
Hatred feeds on envy.因妒生恨。
The public feeds on these periodicals.
公眾以這些期刊為精神糧食。
6.in order to
in order to為了.....,表示目的,可以用于句首、句中,
其否定式為:in order not to.
He got up very early in order to catch the first bus.
為了趕上早班車他很早就起來了。
=In order to catch the first bus,he got up very early.
Turn the volume down in order not to wake the child.
音樂關(guān)小一點別吵醒孩子。
[擴展]
in order to在句中表示目的時,??梢赞D(zhuǎn)化成in order that或so shat
引導(dǎo)的目的狀語從句。如:
We should work hard in order to pass the exam.
-We should word hard in order that/so that we can pass
the exam.為了通過考試,我們應(yīng)該努力學(xué)習(xí)。

           Writing
Write a passage about an animal in danger.Use your
answers in Activity 5 and the following example to
help you.
  Pandas live in Southwest China.They are in danger
and the situation is getting very difficult.First,
pandas do not have many babies,and baby pandas often
die.Second,pandas eat bamboo,but the bamboo forests are
getting smaller.So the government is getting up nature
parks with a lot of bamboo to help protect pandas.
