1.Many art lovers would rather visit this small art gallery than any other in New York.
"would rather...than...",意謂“寧可{愿)......(而)不要(愿).....”、“與其....不如....”
用以表達(dá)主語的意愿,強(qiáng)調(diào)經(jīng)過選擇后做其中一件事,而不愿做另一件事。如:
I would rather watch TV at home than go to the cinema.
我寧可在家看電視而不愿去看電影。
The children would rather walk there than take a bus.
孩子們寧愿步行去那里而不乘公共汽車。
注意:than后邊也應(yīng)接動詞原形,但如該句型前后連接的兩個動詞相同,則than之后的那個動詞可省去。如:
I'd rather you know that now than afterwards.
我寧可你現(xiàn)在就知道這件事,而不是以后。

動詞-ing形式作狀語時,可表示時間、原因、結(jié)果、條件、讓步、行為方式、伴隨狀況等,通常情況下句子的主語與該動詞之間是裸機(jī)上的主動關(guān)系,表示時間關(guān)系的分詞短語有時可由when及while引出。如:
Both of his parents died in the war,leaving him alone.

句型結(jié)構(gòu):It is+adj.+that clause.
真正的主語是后面的that 從句。
It is possible that it will rain tomorrow.
It was clear that they hadn't made a decision.
